Carom is one of the most popular indoor games in India. Once treated a pastime game limited to children and ladies, it is now played at competitive levels in an organized manner. Carom helps in increasing the logical reasoning power in children. They get an opportunity to practice skills like counting, reading, visual perception and coordination between hand and eye. This motivates them to involve themselves in healthy competitions, verbal communication and to focus their attention.
DPS Budgam organized Inter-House Carom competition for the classes(3rd to 5th ) from 16th May to 22nd May 2019. The competition was held in the school sports room for all the four houses -(Endurance, Encounter, Essence & Endeavour) under two categories of boys and girls. In each category children from each house participated in Inter-house carom matches. The excitement and enthusiasm for the competition was infectious. All the participants played very well. Excellent sportsmanship and team spirit were the highlights of the event.
In the final the children gave their best in the game to sink all their pieces before their opponent managed to sink theirs and the shots were almost continuous. The children involved themselves in healthy competitions. Finally, after a hard fought competition, results were known.
